Assassin’s Creed

Siege of Paris

The second expansion DLC for Assassins Creed, The siege of Paris.

My role for this project was junior level designer, collaborating with a team in charge of a region of the game called “Eversin”. In my capacity as junior level designer, I delivered three locations while working with the respective level artist for each location, to deliver a fully realized level. The role itself was in charge of conceptualizing location foot print, establishing gameplay elements, setting up technical requirements for the level, and grounding the location to the setting.

Silmesnil

The concept of Silmesnil was that of a training camp for elite units, this is why you’d find a good number of them here. It also serves as a temporary prison for some shipwrecked ne'er-do-wells.A frankish military camp on the border of eversin

Logging camp.

Just slightly south of the military camp is a logging camp that was established in the past to support the construction of the training facility. Short description of the work if you like.

Shipwrecked bandits

A shipwreck of now captured bandits. Their fate lies in the hands of the military units that captured them from the nearby camp.Short description of the work if you like.

Cursed forest, Beaumesnil

This level in game was a cursed location, wherein the player has to look for a cursed idol and destroy it. Conceptually this area is used by some local cultist to practice their sinister rituals. Eventually they were caught and hanged on the very site they desecrated. A note renouncing these cultists can be read on a tied up body at the level’s entrance.

A deceiving façade.

Slightly south of the ritual site is a unsuspecting house. On the outside everything looks warm and inviting, only to be hiding a sinister secret.

The dark truth

Inside lies corpses upon corpses. Poor victims that were used to fuel the cultists rituals.

Marais Vernier

The concept behind Marais Vernier was a sunken altar. In game altar locations are places where players have to offer goods that can be found in the nearby area. In the case of Marais Vernier the nearby depressed areas were made into fishing holes.

Shipwreck, and stone cairn

Towards the coast you’ll find stone cairns, wreckages of ships that have lost their way, and an amazing view of the cliffs of Étretat.
